Guest aatari Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I'm looking for a good value (and well working) GPS receiver for my Vario. A friend of mine lent me his GPS receiver...cant remember the brand but it was the worlds smallest receiver...worked wll but it was let down by its battery life (not to mention the price). I've found this for $42.50 inc postage. http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8590.htm Looks small and apparently uses nokia batteries meaning a spare would be cheap and easy to find. Has anyone used this one before... yes i tried searching but the boards keep telling me to wait 20 secs due to flood control... my apologies if this has been discussed before... if it has, perhaps someone could send me the link. Cheers. aatari

Guest ultimate_fish Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 I've got one of the cheapo mobilefun GPS receivers and it's worked fine for me. Not that many channels, but I've driven around rural parts of North Yorkshire and city centres without losing the signal.
Guest aatari Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Well i gotta say.. for 40 quid it is excellent... it works great.... i highly recommend this el-cheapo (but quality) product.
Guest TomaHawk Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 what software you using with it? hows the battery think i might get one.
Guest ultimate_fish Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I'm using it with Tomtom navigator on my Vario with no trouble. The battery life seems fine, the unit also comes with a car charger and uses one of the Nokia batteries, so you could even have a fully charged spare battery on hand.
