Guest mini_man Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I had this completely original theory that know one has thought of. Does the Spv C600 have a wifi chipset? Surely it must just be disabled in the software? Nah im only kidding, thats what you guys expected the thread to be about im sure. Well orange are giving me a pay as you go C600 tomorow like a replacement for my C550 because I didnt want ANOTHER C550 that will keep breaking. But this is about wifi on the C600 using a mini-sd card, I read this today Hi bunnyman, That was a good find (Mini SD wifi card). I saw the card here in singapore. It is 6mm longer than the Mini SD slot in the phone. But it will surely work with the phone. The only modificatio needed is to increase the length of the mini SD slot in the phone. But tampering the phone will void the warranty. The guy i checked with had the technical know how and he told me that it will work with the phone. The SPV c600 is called O2 Xphone IIm in singapore. So from what this guy is saying that 02 Xphone IIm has a SDIO compatible slot (C600) and Nedge2k has proved they will fit with modification. What do you guys think? In advance im very sorry if this has been posted before, and please dont say to me "Why didnt you just by a SP5 or M" "Why do you want wifi on the C600 blah blah" "It doesnt have a chipset" Or anything like that as i have read the other posts that say exactly what I said (as a joke) up there. Thanks for listening Sam The Quote is from here http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/archiv...php?t-1083.html The pictures from the project nedge2k did are from here http://www.msmobilenews.com/?cid=947
Guest peekie Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 The mini sd wifi should work , providing you have the drivers ( or use the sp5 rom ) the only problem i can see is memory , if you want your games and music as well on the phone you would have to keep on removing the wifi card to put in your normal sd card ;)
Guest rsearley Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 (edited) The mini sd wifi should work , providing you have the drivers ( or use the sp5 rom ) the only problem i can see is memory , if you want your games and music as well on the phone you would have to keep on removing the wifi card to put in your normal sd card ;) along with the pictures of the fitted sd card he writes "There was speculation on whether the Typhhoon was or not due to it being internal miniSD" in relation to sdio he also writes that at the time no smartphone drivers were available Edited April 20, 2006 by rsearley
Guest mini_man Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 That was posted along time ago though, and I do think that the C600 is SDIO, how great would it be if it worked. I think there have been drivers released, but thats true about the SP5 Rom, I might email SPECTEK or whatever there called later and ask them if its compatible. But from what the quotes saying it seems likely it will work ;) BTW I think there are wifi mini sd cards that have storage on them, and if you really want to watch a film its not that hard to switch the cards over.
