Guest mofo Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 (edited) This morning I discovered that there is no wireless symbol beside battery simbol (I have my own wireless home network) I tried to get there: START - "9"- "6" and than "7" to WiFi but now nr "7" is wifi-settings?!?(it should be Wi-FI and then wifi-settings, right?) I can switch on wifi but never connect to my router. I don't want to do hard reset. Is there any solution for my problem? Edited April 21, 2006 by mofo

Guest mofo Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 (edited) try disconnecting your router from the mains for 10 seconds if you cant connect to it. works 4 me sometimes.... Tnx for your post. I tried that before but I come to conclusion that is not up to my router as my friend who has the same phone (Qtek 8310) connect w/o problems and can "see" other access points in my buildin But something strange happened this morning. When I switched phone on everything was normal !?!? After I connected phone to my PC and working with it, after I disconnected it happened again!!! I really don't know what I have done or what I 'm gonna do ;) Any sugestions? Tnx in advance! Edited April 22, 2006 by mofo

Guest mofo Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 I just had something very similar.. which phone/rom you using? Qtek 8310 and original ROM
Guest kam_ Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Hmm i'm using the latest i-mate rom, and i find if you flip it to serial mode and activesync it with WiFi on, it turns off WiFi. That's normal behaviour, but after you disconnect it from the computer WiFi just won't turn on at all. No Icon, nothing. Sometimes the icon apears for a second then dissapears. I guess not quite what your getting tho.
Guest mofo Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 I can't belive this! It's happening again!! 3rd time now! I am so mad on my phone! It was rather good until this sh.t start to happen!
Guest mofo Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Hi all! I had this problem and I waited for new ROM (swedish) and I install new ROM and YES... you guessed right it happened again! With Now I think I found how to fix it, but that is not solution. When I start my Qtek 8310 there is no ikon for Wi-Fi beside battery bars but LED is blinking! I have to go to "Energy-option" (there you can set time when Wi-Fi si goint to turn off) and have to disable both options and restart the phone then I can use Wi-Fi! Strange! Any ideas? I mean I have solution to my problem, but I don't want this happening to rather expencive phone! One more time: this start to happen under "old" ROM and under the "new" ROM!

I have to go to "Energy-option" (there you can set time when Wi-Fi si goint to turn off) and have to disable both options and restart the phone then I can use Wi-Fi! Very strange thing. I had exactly the same behaviour and with those steps above, I was able to rectify. I do not know why this happens, but I was using STweaker 1.04 (www.smartphone.si/tweaker) all day to change Registry Settings back and forth and that may have corrupted something. It went as far that the phone said it does not have any wifi at all. But with the energy settings changed, everything is back to normal, as far as I believe. Does anybody have an idea where this originates from or why the phone behaves like that? I have a Vodafone Germany VDA II, aka QTEK 8310 with the AKU2 ROM Thanks a million for the workaround, mofo.

Guest rossjamesparker Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 I have a similar but different (I think) Wifi problem - one that is confusing the hell out of me. In order to get A2DP to work on my SP5m, I followed instructions on the forum (and others) and:Upgraded my i-mate ROM from 1.6.331.6 to 2.6.333.1Unlocked the app-lockInstalled the two magical .cab filesI have not re-locked my registry (as explained here) because I haven't yet received my Bluetooth headphones and I want to test the A2DP out. However, since making these changes, to the ROM and to the registry, I have noticed something rather unfortunate: my wifi has been getting very cranky. Why cranky rather than broken? Well, it does say that it is working. It finds a network, it connects, it has an IP address and says it is 'connected' in settings, with the correct solid halo icon on the Main Screen. It even gives me a signal strength. Yet, Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger fail to connect. The error messages are: MSN: Info. Sign-in to MSN Messenger Service failed becaouse the service is not responding. Try again later. IE: Error. Your Internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify your settings in Data Connections. Now, I know this is not an error with the wireless network. I used to use the network fine with the old phone. I am also using it now, to make this post with my laptop. So it's something on the phone side. Interestingly, when plugged in to my laptop via USB, IE and MSN function perfectly. Could this be a problem I have brought on myself with the ROM/A2DP upgrade? Is there a simple setting that I have overlooked and need to change? Has anybody else experienced similar difficulties? Thanks in advance.
Guest rossjamesparker Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 My problem (above) seems to have fixed itself.
