Guest mossywell Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 Hi all, Having finally "had it" with those incompetents at Orange, I've decided to jump ship to T-Mobile (who are 40% cheaper as well). Tried to order the SDA (equivalent of Orange C600) and was told it's not available any more. It can't be true can it? Really? ;)
Guest Pondrew Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Hi Mossywell, T-Mobile UK's most recent Smartphone was the SDA II and sure enough it has been out of stock for a long time and is probably discontinued. But it wasn't an equivalent of the Orange SPV C600 anyway as it was an HTC Hurricane, the same hardware as the older Orange SPV C550. The difference was an older operating system (Windows Mobile 2003SE) and older processor. There IS an SDA based on the HTC Tornado available on T-Mobile USA but that obviously doesn't help those of us here in the UK. There's been rumours of a forthcoming replacement to the SDA II so hopefully that will be a more state of the art Smartphone.
Guest kam_ Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 yup... O2 have the Tornado Qtek8310/SP5 equivalent branded Xda IQ http://xda.o2.co.uk/pdf/xdaIq.pdf Vodaphone have the Tornado Qtek8310/SP5 in a grey colour branded v1240 http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windowsmobile/...59-4C98041FB4D5 Orange have the Tornado C600 - which you know all about T-Mobile have nothing comparable right now. You could buy a qtek 8310 or i-mate SP5 from an online retailer, and a line only contract. They would subsidise the phone with the comission on the contract. As far as i know i've only seen that on O2 and vodafone tho. Its something to do with the conditions they have to abide by when selling phones.
Guest mossywell Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Pants! I have tomtom for the c600 (which also works with the sp5, qtek 8300/8310), but want to get on a t-mobile tariff. The c600 doesn't seem to be available sim-free afaict, and the sp5 sim-free is upwards of
