ok... the new T-Mobile SDA has a messenger program with aim/msn etc...

ITS BASICALLY THE SAME PHONE AS MY CINGULAR 2125

how can we get this program on the other smartphones?

since it works on the Tornado(T_Mobile SDA) it will definetly work on the Faraday(cingular 2125) and prob all the other WM5 phones, how can we transfer the im program from the SDA???

i desperately need an AIM program on my 2125, this is perfect!

If you use the "T-mobile, Mobile instand messanging software" powered by OZ, you don't even have to have t-zones, or internet service. This works with text messages. So, everytime you send a message it comes out of your text messages. So, if you have t-zones, and no text messages, you'll be charged for every text message.

And to the oringinal question about getting this software on another phone..

Go here, http://www.oz.com/company.html

this is the company that makes it. I didn't look through there page enought to see if they sell it, but you can at least contact them now.

T-Zones isn't a service offered with this particular phone. While many, including myself, found that I could use the T-Zone settings posted here on my SP5m, it stopped working after a few months. I called support, and was told that T-Zones only works with regular cell phones, that you have to get T-Mobile Internet/HotSpot service @ $30 per month for the SDA. He also mentioned that while I was on a free-ride while it was working, their systems will eventually identify a device using T-Zones that shouldn't, and it'll stop working. Damn ;)

chaznet,

Oh damn, I surely hope mine won't stop working, I love T-Zones, and if it is working why the hell do I have to pay for the fast internet, this totally blows, if they do that, I am calling t-mobile and yelling at them. I can tell them I am using Motorola v188, and call them from that phone, with my sim in it. How could they stop it? I am paying for the service!

We'll see..

and it sucks to hear that AIM/YAHOO will be charged per text instead of via T-Zones..

There is a COOL way to make T-Zones work to give you full internet acces to IE and email program. I use a hole in TMO TZones with a Proxy Hack. IE works perfectly, and for $5/month you cant beat that.

However, there are the following limitations.

  • You cant stream video using media player (but heck it barely plays on slow Tmobile GPRS)
  • You cant sign on MSN messenger via GPRS (using the default client) I am sure alternate clients are available.

Both these limitations are oly applicable when you are using GPRS, not when you are on WLAN.

here are the settings if anyone is interested.

Connections

Start -> Settings-> Connections -> GPRS

	  Name: T-Mobile GPRS

	  Connects to: WAP Network

	  Access point: wap.voicestream.com

	  Primary DNS: 216.155.165.50

	  Secondary DNS: 216.155.165.50

	  Leave the rest as is...

Start -> Settings-> Connections -> Proxy

	  Name: Proxy

	  Connects from: WAP Network

	  Connects to: The Internet

	  Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080

	  Type: HTTP

Now in IE -> Menus -> Tools -> Options -> Connections

	  Check - Automatically detect settings

	  Select Network: The Internet

(optional MMS settings for T-Mobile USA)

MMS Messaging

  MMS (in account options)

	MMSC Settings

	  Name: T-Mobile MMS

	  MMSC URL: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms

	  WAP Gateway: 216.155.165.50

	  Port: 8080

	  Connects Via: WAP Network

	  WAP Version: 2.0

Shhh! ;)

Nothing to shh about it.. It has been posted everywhere on the internet, including at this board.. ;)

Also, I could not find any alternative messenger client that I could use with t-zones. I have been happily using T-Zones using proxy. I have some other programs as well, such as Fizz Traveller, and it connects to internet without a single problem (and gets data for its own program), the reason MSN, WMP, Etc cannot connect to internet is because you cannot define which connection to use under these programs. If you have any media player, where you can define the "Connection", you can easily use those prgrams as well.. But I could not find any media player where you can input connection info manually..

Once we find something like that, I think that'll be the day :P

By the way speed of T-Zones is maxing at 90kbps at times, regularly at 40-50kbps. That's more than enough to stream basic radio.

Oh, also above works the opposite way as well..

So I use

Connects to: Internet for the first one (GPRS) (I add a new connection, instead of editing original one)

and

Connects from: Internet

Connects to: WAP Network

for the proxy.
