Guest W4tch3r Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 Hi, Can the usb port be used for anything other than syncing and charging (and flash drive emulation using WM5torage)? Can I connect, for example, a (usb) keybard to it, or a camera, or a usb flash drive, or even a usb based ODBII engine monitoring system (eg look at AutoEnginuity)? I'd like to know if anyone has any novel uses or tricks for it that are working, thanks, W4tch3r
Guest Laser_iCE Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Any device connected to the USB would require drivers installed on the phone itself, which would then also need to be compatible with Windows CE... As far as I know, if you want to use a keyboard or something, you can get those collapsing BT keyboards ;)
Guest PReDiToR Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 This thread might help answer your question clearly, but the short answer is: The USB port is client only, although the hardware could have supported host mode if HTC had wanted to wire it up a little differently. You cannot connect hard drives, cameras, MP3 players or anything like that to the Universal.
