My phones' number after porting

I've just this afternoon had my number ported successfully across networks.

However when I go through Phone > Menu > Options, the phone number displayed at the top of the screen is the "old" number - not my ported number.

Does anyone know if this can be remedied so as the correct number is displayed ?

Might try a reset in the meantime........that may sort it.

No - a soft reset didn't cure it.... ;)

Any ideas guys and galls ??

That happened to me before.

I think it's because on your new network you are known by the number they give you, and the number you ported across is associated with that new number.

I seem to recall that it affected sent SMS etc as well as call history.

I never found a way to change it.

I had the same problem when I ported my number.

Luckily for me I have a SPV C600 too which has a program on it to edit the number on the SIM card. I notice that your profile says that you have a C550 - if you've still got it, try going to Start/Accessories/SIM Manager/Menu/My Phone Number/Edit. That should do the trick....

Cheers for that - it jogged my memory ! I think the same options are available on the C550.

I do intend to use the Vario as my primary phone though, so I'm just gonna check to see if it can be modified in a similar fashion on that handset too.

It must be a commonplace problem - well hopefully it isn't a problem - occurence shall we say..... as my wife's new Nokia 6280 has the same issue.

I'll post over at mobiholcs and see if anyone has foudn a "solution".

Cheers again nutty....

Well, on the Vario, under Start > Programs > Contacts > there is a "SIM Manager" - where you can list your own numbers.

However, the is only the options to Erase an entry or Refresh all entries - nothing to add a new one.

Needless to say I've tried erasing the one that was ther and then refreshing all and now there is nothing !! Hee Hee

After a soft reset the phone number now appears blank on the Phone > Menu > Options display page.

Even adding a new number, with correct details - it doesn't appear in the "list of own numbers" after a refresh all.

What good is that applicaiton !!!!

Just popped my sim into my C550.

Used the Sim manager on that handset (older handset and older operating system) to edit my number.

Put the SIM back into the Vario and hey presto - Sorted.

Just need to try it with the other sim currently in the Nokia.

Same results with the Nokia - for anyone that hasn't been bored to tears by my own over indulgence and may still be here !!!

Hope it helps someone else anyway.

Nice one.

Not sure why the Vario doesn't have that program on it. A good lesson on why it's good to keep old handsets hanging around ;-)

I can change the number on my vario...im on th imate rom.

If you go into sim manager > Tools > List of Own numbers > Select your number....and change it!

Have a look at the screen images:

You're damn right! And I thought they'd left this bit of software off the Vario... I suppose I never go into my contacts through that option - I always press the right soft key.

Cheers ;)

Apologies minty - for some reason when the number was highlighted in the list and in the absence of a "Change" option at that screen - I only pressed+held the stylus on the entry and this only gives the Erase or refresh all options.

Maybe my screen wasn't playng ball for that "one click" !!!

As I did mention earlier, though, and why I explored the c550 option was that I had erased my number - Dumb I know.

All in all - problem solved. (With two solutions I guess)

I dont see it on Vario... I'm assuming it's only available on imate rom?

Even Start -> Programs and there is no Sim Manager listed.

Interesting... it's not there.

On my Vario the shortcut to Sim Manager points at \Windows\SIM_Mgr.exe. Maybe you can find it there.

Yep, it's there - thanks.

Wonder why it's not in the Programs listing...
