Guest TonyB Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Help please. Orange can provide no help at all other than they may get back to me in a month or two. Problem is after numerous instals I finally got my PC and SPV to talk to each other, but subsequent visits shows the PC ActiveSync connecting (but it doesn't) and the SPV A/S showing an error message (missing server information or credentials) The SPV PC Settings show Connect to 'Moonstone' and won't let me change it - Orange have never heard of it and referred me to Microsoft who referred me back to Orange! Help please!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Never heard of that! Try a hard reset on your SPV, maybe yours is refurb with someone elses settings? P
Guest TonyB Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Thanks Paul, but how do I do a hard reset? As far as I know the phone was new
Guest Knight_Rider Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Tony heres how to do a hard reset As posted by Paul somewhere else - nice one Paul! - Remove the battery and wait 5 seconds. Replace the battery - Press and Hold voice recorder button (below the power button on the left-hand side) - Power-on the device - The device will enter a special power-up mode - "Card found" will be displayed on the screen - Shortly after you will receive two options: "Press any key to enter boot loader" and "Press action button to enter diag mod" - Press and hold the Action button - After a few seconds a menu will be displayed - Select "Erase IPSM" and wait for the screen to display "PASSED" - Then move to the left with the navigation button and select "END" - A screen with three colours will be displayed You may now remove and replace the battery and perform a normal power up Note: This may take several minutes If your still having trouble with active sync I recommend that after the hard reset you compleatly uninstall Active Sync from your machine through Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs > Find ActiveSync (should be near the top then click remove) After this do a restart of the machine even if it dosent ask you too then install it again off the CD and set up the partnership again. Its possible the phone may have some setting on it thats making the PC think its called moonstone if thats the case it will already have ActiveSync settings on it and these may be locked so you wouldnt be able to change them. Tony next time you have a program post on here dont even bother calling Orange they are useless Let me know what happens
Guest TonyB Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Thanks guys. I did the reset thing and it works as far as the moonstone thing is concerned. However, I followed your advice about reinstalling ActiveSync and no joy. I can't get passed ir recognising the usb port. I'm wandering now if it is the cradle/cable and am off to the supplier to get a new one. Thanks again and no more Orange for me, I will rely on this forum.
Guest Knight_Rider Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Glad to hear it Tony, let me know how the new cradle goes it could be the cradle their not the best built things in the world
