Guest Tanko Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 I just cant seem to connect anymore. Ok so i have the 8125 and out of the box for some reason i was able to connect to my 802.11g Linksys router and i was really happy Smile . However, a couple days goes by I can still connect, but i cant surf through web pages. I'm upset but i just regard my ability to do so earlier as a fluke and begin working on a solution. I change the registry on my phone using these instructions
Guest fraser Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Every now and then my phone activates EAP authentication in the settings for my wireless network, even though I'm not using it. The symptoms you are seeing sound exactly like what's happening to me when it turns on. Sometimes I need to fix it then turn the WiFi off then on again to make it work properly.
Guest fraser Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Click on the little antenna in the bottom right, then Tools/Network cards, select the wireless network from the list and it's on the 802.1x tab. If you are not using encryption, this will be disabled and won't be the solution to your problem.
Guest Tanko Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 yeah it says disabled. No solution yet ;)
Guest fraser Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 OK, next step is to figure out what is going wrong. Here's the normal sequence: 1) wifi on 2) scans networks 3) auto-selects known network 4) associates with AP 5) gets IP address 6) configures routing and DNS 7) browse tthe web My money is on 5 failing. Use the utility vxIPConfig to determine your IP. If it's similar to the routers, then everything is mostly working. If it begins 0.0.0.0 or 169.x.x.x, then you aren't actually talking to the access point. You know it's there, but it's ignoring you; likely due to encryption. Let me know if you are getting an IP and we can take it from there.
Guest Whoosh Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Maybe my posts can be of help: search for 'WLAN problems'. Good luck!
