Email Outbox - reset counter?

I've got an M5000 and somehow or other the outbox for one of the several email accounts i have set up is showing 1 email to send (blue number "1" next to folder view for account) and i can't reset it :P

Obviously any number of send and receives hasn't cleared it.

There's no problem sending new email either - the counter just goes to 2, sends, then returns to 1...

Does anyone know where this value is stored and how i might reset it??! ;)

I used to get this a lot on the SPV smartphone. The discussion Confuscious links to is the solution I always used.

Cheers - I've tried using Resco Reg Editor to find the values mentioned but no luck; WM5 prob uses different files, and didn't ISPM go out with 2003SE?

I've tried looking at all the "mail" reg keys and values, nothing obvious there either...

I'll keep trying, might just hard reset eventually anyway, getting pretty slow lately ;)

Yeah, the root keys like ISPM are different (similar content tho), but this isn't actually a registry key; it's a key within a database. It just so happened that it was a reg edit tool you used. I think!!

You'll likely need to find a PPC equiv for "dbviewsp". SK Tools _might_ do it, I had a quick look around and I couldn't see this setting.

In short, rather than count each message every time the screen updates, the phone keeps the count in a variable and the screen reads from there. Way faster, but you can get the odd out-of-sync problem. The solution originally was to delete the particular key, forcing the phone to poll the actual mailbox on the next use. You'd browse to the db file, view it's keys & make the edit.

If it comes down to a hard-reset for you, try using SKTools (or similar) to just delete the whole database. You'll lose your mail and txts, but they will be automatically recreated. Probably. Nothing to lose if the alternative is a reset tho.

I own SK Tools - the DB function shows databases for all pop3 accounts folders; it only allows me to empty an entire DB which i tried for a laugh (having backed up using SPB backup prog) but the counter must be in a different DB than the ones easily identifiable as re pop3 accounts. The delete database function won't let me do it - I'll have to check the log for why, I haven't done so yet. I wasn't running mail - maybe another process bags the databases on startup or something - just guessing really.

I'll have a look for something to actually view DB values then - i didn't know there was such a thing!

Cheers for your help - I've got a bit more to go on now anyway ;)
