Lost applications on storage card

Hi all,

Hope you can help. I have updated my ROM successfully but now have a question. Previously, I had some applications installed to my Storage Card. Now after the ROM update I can access these apps through File Explorer but not any other way. They are not in the Programs Folder etc.

Is there anyway of creating a 'shortcut' or link to the application from my programs directory. Or is it just a matter of reinstalling the app or copying the exe to the program directory.

Hello, and welcome to Modaco

Some apps you can just create a shortcut to, but some will make other changes (to the registry or Windows folder for example) so they wont run without reinstalling.

Try them and see is the only way to know.

I always keep the CAB files for all of my "crucial" apps on my SD card so I can recover quickly from updates and fatal crashes.

To add to that don't forget to make the cab files read only so you can reinstall when ever you need to.

If you do not do this after they install the cabs will automatically be removed.

To make the shortcuts I recommend Total Commander, a replacement for the File Explorer app. Just make them in /Windows/Start menu/, it works exactly the same as a Windows PC does it's start menu.
