Guest hyedipin Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 Earpiece volume is always high, and changes very little when I adjust it using the side buttons (up/down) on my SDA. There is no way to make it quiet.. :P Does anyone have the same problem? Especially if the other side is too loud, it is literally screaming on the phone, even when the volume is set to low.. Any ideas? ;)
Guest hyedipin Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 I got another SDA (second one) it has the same issue.. volume is always on no matter how low you set it..
Guest kam_ Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 I get this somtimes.. confirm it happens when you have no other software installed. You also set a default system volume in the profile, maybe change that otherwise. Make a call, put the volume all the way up. Hang up, make a new call, then drop the volume. It works for me after that.
Guest mofo Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 I can confirm the same problem on my Qtek 8310. Any solution?

Even if it is too loud, do you notice any change at all? There is a registry key somwhere around HKLM\Software\HTC\ where you can change the audio gain.
Guest nevawlkalone Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 Not sure if this has been mentioned biut have any of you tried the system volume in the setings folder!?!
Guest kam_ Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 Not sure if this has been mentioned biut have any of you tried the system volume in the setings folder!?! You mean under profiles? My understanding is that the volume buttons change the system volume level. The setting in the profile sets this to the level you select there when you switch profiles. So it will go to MAX for example when you switch to the Normal profile, and the volume bar will show full.
Guest hyedipin Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 unfortunetaly System Volume has nothing to do with earphone (speaker) volume during a call. System Volume will only adjust, well, the system volume. For example, if you set button sounds as clicks, this volume will adjust how high the clicks will sound, it is independent from the earphone volume.

I don't know, I wanted to turn down the earpiece volume because the other end of the call was getting me deaf as he's constantly shouting thru the phone. And I couldn't, the bar did go down but the volume remained the same, except for when it was empty and the volume was muted.

Guest hyedipin Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 This is really bothering me, a great phone, but the earpiece kills the whole beauty of it.. It gives me headache when the other end is speaking loud, or if they have a phone that picks up every little noise (like the SonyEricssons normally do, they will pick up if a pin drops on the floor!)
Guest kam_ Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 Well like i said try to edit the gain... Decrease one of these keys.. \HKLM\Software\HTC\EAC_GAIN_EMBEDDED \HKLM\Software\HTC\EARPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME
Guest hyedipin Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 GAIN? Doesn't it adjust the Microphone pick up? Has anyone tried this?
Guest rhadsea Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 GAIN? Doesn't it adjust the Microphone pick up? Has anyone tried this? I been trying this since last night on my T-Mobile SDA, and I really don't have a clue what I'm doing. My problem is that people I am talking to tell me that my voice is cutting out, going from quiet to loud to silence and back on a consistent basis when using and when not using a handsfree earpiece. Anyway, in HKLM/software/htc/audiogain, I fooled around with the values of the CODEC_GAINs, EAC_GAINs, and volumes. I know that when I changed EAC_GAIN_EMBEDDED to 30, I sounded better to others plus the volume of others did not hurt my ears, but then the volume of the ringer was almost silent. Changing others values made some things better, but deterioted the incoming or outgoing sound quality of the phone call, ring tone, music, or video. Like you, I wish I knew what all these values do to the phone.
