smartphone contact viewing help

I've never actually posted here but I thank everyone who gives great advice on smartphones

but an issue has come up that finally requires the need for me to post

I once owned :P an audiovox smt5600 and was walking my dog when the clip I had attached to the back came loose, the phone hit my foot as I was walking, skidded through a couple of puddles and managed to find its way under a moving tire with a truck attached to it ;) ;)

So I purchased an HTC Wizard (cingular 8125) (couldn't wait for the hermes any longer). Now my problem.

I am trying to recover the contact data from the smartphone that was saved from the last time I synced it with active sync and recover it to transfer to my new HTC Wizard, but I simply can't figure out how to do it.

Every time I sync the wizard, it does so under its own profile and only syncs outlook contact info not smartphone contact info or so I have figured out

How do I recover my lost contacts, some of those contacts are old friends that I had managed to meet back up with and now I can't call them

Please help me
