Driving around, the "G" icon (for GPRS) changed to "E" at some point on my M600. (Around the Oxford area I think). Is this the orange edge network? Havent seen any mention of it in the user manual and the "E" isnt even listed in the possible icons. Also, the phone "trainer" in local orange shop thought I was making the whole thing up. Would I have to change any of the GPRS settings etc to access this network? Thanks if anyone could enlighten me about this.

yes 'E' is edge, orange are rolling it out, they are doing it in areas where the is no 3g coverage first

you do NOT need to make any changes to your phone, if the 'E' icon apears edge will automatically be used instead of standard GPRS

Thanks for that. Do orange have a coverage map for EDGE? Couldn't see anything on their site - just wherever there's an "E" on the phone I guess!

No no coverage maps, as i say they are putting edge where there is no, and probly will be no 3G coverage

i live in the new forsest area, and i find arounf heavily populated area's i only gprs as there is 3G coverage, but if i goto tiny little area's in the forest i get Edge

But i know it 'work in progress' so you will get to see 'E' more often
