Guest TomeQ Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 I've got an old COMPAQ iPAQ 3760 from friend. It was working ok, but one day my friend inserted wrong AC adapter cable (5V too but with reversed +/-). And then iPAQ stopped working (battery was empty) and charging too. Friend give it to me. What part may be broken now? It will be very expensive to repair? Thanks.
Guest fraser Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 If you can find someone that can do circuit debug, it might not be a big deal. There's likely a fuse (a very small one) on the board to isolate the power supply from the main circuit, or it could just be a simple blown generic component. Or it could be one of the main chips if you are unlucky. You could have someone eliminate the basic options quite quickly and give you an estimate. Sending it to Compaq might be expensive though...a TV/Video repairshop might be able to do it, but they'd maybe need some persuading to do so. ;)
