Guest wolfrobinson Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 I wanted to remove some themes I'm no longer using. I went through "Remove Program", it acts like it's trying to remove, but then on several items it comes back and says "*** could not be removed from your phone." I also tried to go through Activesync/Tools, and that won't remove them either. Finally, I manually deleted the files, but they are still hanging around the Remove Programs list. I have rebooted the phone too. I'm not sure where to get the remnants cleaned up. I did a search on this topic but didn't find the answer.
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Never change homescreens that have been installed from bab/hme without properly uninstalling them using the tool. You could either reinstall them one-by-one and uninstall them immediately or have a look in our Downloads section for the Home_Restore_cab which might do the trick. ;)

One of the home themes is one I installed today, but it didn't look right, so I tried to uninstall it right away and it wouldn't. I just tried to reinstall some of the themes, but it won't reinstall them either.
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 Here's a direct link to the cab file though I'm not sure it will clear everything you need to remove : http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=dscrip...tails&f_id=1169 You may need to hard reset to get your phone properly clean again ;) Are you installing homescreens from the right category for your phone ?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 I highly recommend SKTools (http://www.s-k-tools.com), it can uninstall ANYTHING that WM5 fails to, and has automated cleaning and maintenance tools too. It's not free, but it is a steal at $9 ;) P
Guest wolfrobinson Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 Thanks for the tips. I'll check them both out. I would usually stick the .hme or .cab file in the home directory, and it installed fine. I tested a few on my storage card, and they worked fine as well. Do other people have problems if they install the file from their storage card? I'd hate to do a hard reset of my phone, and reinstall all my apps. It doesn't bother me *that* much, but would if it started slowing my phone down.

I have the Audiovox SMT5600 running Windows Mobile 2003 SE. I noticed on Handango it wants a PocketPC device name versus a Smartphone name. I emailed SK Tools support to find out if if should run on my device.

I emailed SK Tools support to find out if if should run on my device. I think the Audiovox SMT5600 is a Smartphone so I doubt SKTools would work on it. I'm surprised it even let you install it. According to the link it is for Pocket PC only. If it does somehow work for Smartphone let us know. Jason. Edited May 4, 2006 by jasnewt
Guest wolfrobinson Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 No, it won't run on the Smartphone. The company replied back that it won't work. I just did a hard reset and reinstalled my apps. Thanks,
