Screen ... what screen?

The Wizard may to pretty much everything but it's bloody difficult to see the screen in daylight ... almost to the point that it's useless. I have it mounted in the car running TomTom and in this recent sunny weather I may as well not bother, for all I can see.

Any tips (apart from the obvious use it in the shade etc) ?

Is it just me?

Set the backlight as high as possible and see if the satnav offers different screen settings for better contrast.

And mount the device slightly lower down on the dash.

I'd recommend getting a good screen protector. The Javoedge one I have on my Vario really reduces glare a lot.

Is it a dedicated anti-glare one you have Phil (as I note they do anti glare and ultra clear), and does it not impair visibility at all in good light?

Do you have a url to a decent supplier?

I have a screen protector on (can't remember the make) and I think that's part of the problem - despite it being mounted lower on the dash as suggested previously.

Will try the screen brightness tip too - thanks Jimbo for that :)

I think mine are the anti-glare version but I can't be sure. I got mine direct from the Javoedge website.

Thanks ... looking to buy a pack of three so really want to get the right one. I want to reduce glare but not at the expense of clear visibility in 'normal' light.

I think I recall reading a thread here about the various options but can't look for it at the mo ... maybe later.

Thanks again.

-UPDATE-

Found the thread HERE.

Many good reports on the Exim protectors (which is the one I have I now remember) but IMO it adds to the glare problem.

Looks like either Boxwave or JavoEdge ... now, should I toss a coin?!

I'd have to give my vote for the Martin Fields protector . I've been using it for a while now and use tom tom in my car. Never had a problem in the car with glare etc although the site doesn't actually mention anti-glare. It says it has UV protection, but I guess that might not be relevant. Mind you, not having a problem with glare may be due to the fact I live in Birmingham, and acutally haven't seen any sun strong enough to cause any glare since 1985!! ;)
