Resetting C600 back to purchased state

I bought a C600 a couple of months ago.

I unlocked it, and changed registery setting to allow the unlock and to add new (uncertified) programs.

The phone is causing issues by the keys locking up and I have to switch off to reset and it does the same again.

So, I want to return the phone to the Orange shop it was purchased from.

I have tried a cold boot (press and keep pressed the soft keys and switch on, but it leaves programs (e.g. regedit), nd does not re-lock.

How do I completely reset it to factory setting, and locked - i.e. no evidence that it's been altered.

Regards,

Rannoch

It was pointed out on here recently that they probably won't even check to see what modifications you have made before reflashing it and sending it out again. I've never bothered hard resetting before sending back any phones to Orange for replacement, usually for joystick malfunction.

If you are determined to clean your phone up though I'd check to see if you have properly done the hard reset. Did you get the prompt screen after powering up ?

Have you tried the Clear Storage option in Accessories ?

Disco Stu,

I did get the prompts for hard reset, but I didn't Clear Storage - I have now.

Thanks for the information.

Taking the phone back this week.

What is the Orange shop's usual position on returning a phone - I've had this one a couple of months.

For example, do they accept that there is a fault if it can be demo'd, and replace the phone there and then, or do they say it has to be sent away for repair.

if your doing it with the free 6 month warrenty, then you just call up explain your problem and they'l book a time with you for the next day for a courier to come pick up and deliver a phone.

Seriously dont worry about orange looking at what youve got and what state its in.

I sent a C550 back that was left in my conditions of use that had the Microsoft Voice Command Beta for smartphones! and this is an illegal copy that hasnt even been released, but they didnt notice.

If you unlocked your device to all networks then you cant lock it again. Ive sent back 3 C550s and they were all unlocked and tweaked etc.

I should have been more specific by stating that I purchased the phone at a Orange high street shop not the internet shop. Big big difference!

I bought the phone at the end of March.

If I had returned the phone within 14 days I could have cancelled, or replaced the phone, or had another phone.

Within 28 days I could have replaced the phone.

If I had had their insurance they could have replaced the phone if Orange technical siupport said that there was a fault. I don't have insurance.

Now. The shop called Orange fault whatever, and passed the phone to me to describe the problem. The operator took the details, and entered them into thier database to search for similar problem - nothing found.

I was advised that Orange technical support will phone me in three or four days when I may be asked to try a couple of things, or send the phone back for repair or maybe get a replacement.

The shop cannot replace the phone even if Orange say it's faulty - it will need to be sent back, and the shop will give me a temporary phone.

I don't expect to get any acceptable solution.

Nope there is absolutley no difference! Orange should have given you 6 months of free orange care which is what I got with my C550 and they should take it off you straight away if there is a fault.

Have you called orange? cos they usually ask me where I got it from on the phone from and I think they still deal with it over the phone.
