Help With Image Converting

I want to put an Image as my backround.

What size do I convert (in paint) it to, to fit as a homescreen Image on a SMT5600?And where do I go to edit the size? (Also that it will not interfere with the start and contacts menu on the bottom)

I tried to google it but it only gave me the same answewrs the manual gave me..... the resolution size.

176 wide x 200 high.

For the record....you could make it 2000 high and it wouldnt interfere with the bottom soft keys as they are on a layer ABOVE the background image.

Now do I go into stretch/skew or attributes to change it?
