Force no sync with exchange when plugged in to PC?

I have changed my email provision to the rather excellent 4smartphone in preperation for the Vario rom with push to be released. I have however ran into a small problem.

I want to synchronise my email and contacts with the 4smartphone server, same as my desktop outlook is now setup with, and my in case of emergencies C500. Works perfect.

However, I want to keep synchronising my calander with my Outlook at work. When I plug the phone into my desktop at work it automatically wants to synchronise emails/contacts with the 4smartphone exchange server, but I'm behind a proxy here and it wont seem to connect through. That's fine because I can sync with 4smartphone OTA anyway. So how can I force activesync NOT to synchronise with the exchange server when plugged into my work PC, or indeed any PC if that makes it easier, but to synchronise the desktop items for that particular PC? Or can anyone see an easy way around this?

Hope that makes sense.

You can only sync with one exchange server - so if your work pc gets its calendar from another exchange server, you are limited to simply guesting via activesync.

If however the calendar is only local (ie just saved in outlook) then you can sync that with your device - just go into activesync settings and choose mail via the server and calendar via the pc.

The Calendar comes from work's exchange server, but I can sync it with outlook's copy of the Calendar. That's not the problem. The problem is as soon as I connect the phone to the PC at work it will try and synchronise with the 4smartphone exchange server, but it can't because the proxy here at work wont let me. It just keeps trying and doesn't ever seem to time out.

You could force a timeout yourself to speed things up. Seeing as you cannot reach the exchange server, make an entry in the HOSTS file like:

yourmailserver.com 127.0.0.1

Any requests for services on that address will instead be redirected to the machine you are on. This should imediately respond that the connection cannot be made, as opposed to timing out some point later.
