Guest Ghost_1 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 I'm sure this has been discussed and I have search the forums many times. Basically my problem is that my I-mate Jam randomly wakes up whenever it wants. I don't want to hard reset cause it takes so long to put everything back on and I don't really want to have to go that route, as I have tried it before and still got the same problem. I know about the programs that will back up the device but I am kinda lazy. If anyone knows what the url is please post it or let me know if there is anything I can do. Thanks.
Guest fraser Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 It's probably just running programs that need to do things. Try closing all apps and leaving it for a while to see if it happens again. I find that web browsers seem to the be the worst for this.
Guest Ghost_1 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 (edited) I thought that might be the problem so I did a soft reset and let it alone for a while. It still happens. The only applications I have on it are SPB pocket plus and Weather. Otherwise it's pretty much the way it was when I got it out of the box. It's annoying but I've dealt with it for a while. I'm just waiting for enough money so I can get the Hermes. . .ha ha ha Edited May 12, 2006 by Ghost_1
Guest fraser Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 Something like sktools will let you take a look at the wakeup schedule and tell you exactly what it is. My money is on your Weather app waking it up then. A wakeup is the only way these apps get to do anything, so they schedule them at key times whenever the phone goes into standby.
Guest chucky.egg Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 It could be a duff non-WM5 app, or a fault with the ROM Could it be that you have reminders set to go off when the device wakes up? I've had several instances where a reminder is due, the device wakes up, but it makes no sound and displays no reminder message. The only solution that I've found is a hard reset and being very selective about the apps you install
Guest sgeary Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 Mine does it aswell But i think its somthing to do with reception, u see with o2 when its checking the reception to see if the phone is still there you hear it beepin if its near speakers and sometimes the screen turns on aswell if u know what i mean.
Guest chucky.egg Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 The "beeping" is interference, not the device trying to communicate with you.

LOL i know that its just interferance but this happens when ur getting a call etc including just when the phone is communicating with the mast to let it know its still there and i think this may cause the screen comin on seems like it with mine anyway
Guest fraser Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 On mine it only makes it come on when it has to e.g. incomming txt or call. GSM phones have a "I'm still here" heartbeat every now and then and the phone shouldn't be waking up for them.
