Guest Mothium Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Hello everyone I need some advice from the owners of the SPV M600 and O2 XDA Mini s - I'm looking to buy a new phone and i think i'll get one of these (or possibly a C600). I've only got a Nokia 6600 atm so you see why i need an upgrade. Is there much the M600 as over the XDA? The XDA is much cheaper and i can't afford to get a high line rental so i will have to pay something towards the phone? I've heard the XDA is slow and i'd probably prefer to go with orange as i'm on O2 now and i'm not that impressed with the CS. I really like the idea of have Wifi as there is full coverage at my university campus (free of course), also Push email sounds great, is this available on all 3 phones mentioned? And the M600 has been stated as out of stock on the orange website for a while so i can't get that yet anyway. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Guest lescargot Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Here are my thoughts that i posted on another forum (xda mini s = wizard, m600=prophet): For my needs the Prophet is much better. I purchased the Wizard and was quite underwhelmed. It didn't feel that solid and after its first day of use the stylus holder was already rattling. I felt it was too big for a phone and it didn't lend itself to one handed operation. The keyboard although great for data input I think would have been rarely used. So after having the device for 10 days sold it on and purchased a qtek s200 (not the cheapest way though). Much better device and for me had more of a wow... factor. Importantly the balance of the device in my hands made it much better for one handed control and also felt much more sturdy. Don't forget the SD card on the prophet allows you up to 4 gb at the moment. The speakerphone is not as good (because of the one speaker at the back) as the Wizard though but perfectly adequate. Lastly referring to the ROMS the Prophet is probably less polished than the Wizard ROMs althought this is to be expected as the Prophet is a newer device. I expect them to be on par in the next few months. Iain
Guest Madeye Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 I think you should go into a shop and give them both a try! Iain much prefers the prophet but I personally much prefer the wizard, it's all about preference rather than phone capabilities. I find the keyboard on the wizard is INVALUABLE! I really couldn't live without it. I must admit it took a few days / weeks for me to get used to it and I was actually typing messages with the stylus - not anymore! My stylus did start to get a little rattley quite early on (a few weeks at least tho) but never degraded beyond that, it's still together, it still stays in and I still have the spare. I don't use it very much now anyway because... the wizard does lend itself perfectly (for me) to one handed operation. I have mapped buttons to do simple tasks like open the start menu and ok/close apps (also a few others such as rotate screen and silent). This means i have no real need to touch the screen very often as everything I need already has a hardware button and when I type it's with the excellent keyboard! You should definately try before you buy if you can, but I'm a firm believer that the wizard takes some getting used to but is worth it in the end!
Guest Mothium Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Thanks for your replies i will be going into town to have a play with them both. I've been reading on the internet that the performance (speed) is the same on both - is this true? Also i read that using skype over wifi isn't very good due to performance, but of you overclock its fine. Has anyone tried this?

Guest youngliam Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 I'm in the same situation... 20 days till end of my 02 contract and I really wanted the Xda Atom (search on google) this isn't in Europe yet and I wouldn't expect it to be for at least 6-12 months... if ever. On orange I really want the M600. I'm annoyed with 02 CS, and I was quoted
Guest chucky.egg Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 It sounds like you'd like a T-Mobile Flext tariff and Web & Walk. The tariff gives you "credit" to use as you like on voice, SMS, MMS etc (for example I pay
