Long time SPV C500 user here, so the Vario is not new-ish to me as it's still Windows Mobile but it's different... ;)

On my SPV C500, when I press the power button once and select Phone Lock, it locks my C500 and I have to enter the password to unlock it.

With the Vario, I can't find it. The "Device Lock" shortcut icon only locks it and not password protect it. In other words, I want it to ask for the password so others can't just unlock and use it.

I can't find it in the manual.

Is the feature removed from Vario? If not, where it is?

If yes, is there any 3rd party programs that can do this?

Thanks,

In Settings>Passwords you can set a password to be entered if the device is left for a certain period of time, which obviously works when the device is locked for a that time period. Not quite the same as the C500 but does the job if you ask me!

You can even set the time period to 0, but not sure quite what that will do!

Seems like if you set the interval to 0, the password will only be required when you hit the standby button.

That did the trick, thanks! I didn't think about setting it to 0 minute.

Might as well as get rid of the "Device Lock" shortcut on the desktop.

Shame it doesn't show the date & time which I am used to on my C500 phone. It would mean I have to enter the password before seeing anything on the desktop.

Who knows, I might find another way round when I play with it more (or others could tell me ;) )

Yeah, that is a bit annoying, having to punch in the password just to check the time. Can't even use it as an excuse for being late!

My Vario shows the top line of the screen when in password mode, including the clock. So I don't need to put in the password to check the time. I do have the "Display the clock on the title bar in all programs" option ticked (Start->Settings->Clock & Alarms->More).

Yeah so does mine! Look it's Monday, and I'm slightly retarded until at least Wednesday! I'm sure i had to put in the password all the time for something stupid! Never mind! ;)

Ooo, that's a good one - I've set it and it works great - I can now see the time and not have to enter the password.

Thanks.
