SPV C550 questions from a new user

Hi all.

I hope that you can give me answers to the following questions. I would be very grateful.

i) What size do photos need to me if I want to add them to my home screen or caller ID? My old E200 photos were 176 x 180 and they are now too small.

ii) Is there any way to enlarge old games to fully fit the C550 screen? Again, on the SPV E200 the game filled the screen and now it's tiny.

iii) Do I need to buy any extra kit to obtain sat nav on my phone? Which software would you recommend?

iv) In which folder do I need to save .wav files in order to use them for ringtones/text/voicemail alerts?

Thanks so much!

Good Choice of phone!

i use 240*300 for homescreens....caller ID's set themselves!

Nope screen size is larger so the screen is still using old resolution so there for will be smaller!

And you were doing so well (typo) ;)

You do need a GPS reciever, the two main sat nav applications are TomTom and Co-Pilot

Personally I prefer TomTom which is only available with it's own GPS unit, Co-Pilot I believe you can buy without a GPS so you would then need to buy a seperate unit.

You mention a GPRS reciever rather than a GPS ;)

(I presumed that was a typo apologies if not)

Thanks for the answers.

So if I have my images at 240 x 300, they should fit the home screen perfectly?

How do I make the photo ID display universally just appear as a photo? I don't want those daft little templates anywhere and the only way that I seem to be able to remove them is by changing the options individually for each of my contacts.

To be fussy about the background image for homescreens it should be 240x293 to be perfect ;)

If you go to the caller ID menu you can select the different sizes you want the image...positon...back ground colour ETC

All of three pixels out...be reet!

Going back to your sat nav question I had TomTom on my C550 and loved it! now I have changed to a vario which came with co-pilot and I must say I'm really missing the TomTom. little niggles like the TomTom turned my bluetooth on for me whereas the co-pilot doesn't; Co-pilot always starts up in 'driver safety' mode and you need to manually set 3D view every time, also TomTom seems better supported with POIs and is definitely easier to import POIs into. On the plus side I would say the speech is better in co-pilot, plus you get more info about your current road on the display; co-pilot also switches the display automatically to 'night mode'. Overall though I'm really considering ditching the co-pilot and reverting back to TomTom
