Guest Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Hi, I was wondering if anyone had experienced problems with their MDA Compact II booting and locking up displaying an event / appointment that had been recorded in outlook? I've entered an all day event and when the device boots it displays the event on the windows splash screen, but does nothing else. There are soft key options to click to dismiss, but this does not work. I can't even turn the device off with the power button. The only thing I can do is press the reset button, but then it just boots and does the same thing again or I take the battery out. I'm new to this device, am I going to damage it by removing the battery? Does anyone have any suggestions of how to fix this? It seems pretty pointless having a PDA if I can't put entries in the diary! I'm going to see what happens when I turn it on in the morning because in theory the 'all day event' will be ended! I've read a few things about a firmware upgrade, does anyone know when this will happen? Where will it be available from? Sorry I realise that's a lot of questions. I just hope someone can help me. Thanks, imh.
Guest hot_b Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 Hi, That sounds like a strange fault. Had you installed any software on the device before it started misbehaving? If a soft reset isn't helping you should be able to cure with a hard reset (topic pinned at top of this forum) although beware you'll loose all you data!
Guest Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 It's really bizarre. I was all set to take it back and it started working again! The only software that I have installed is copilot, which came bundled with the device. Oh well, I'm happy as long as it's working. Thanks for the reply.
Guest James Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 I have had the boot up 'problem' quite a lot when the phone is off for instance then turn it on with an alarm that has been set during the off time sounds during boot up... if you press 'dismiss' the phone acts like its locked up... BUT, if you leave it long enough it will recover!
Guest Hackbridge Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 I'm having a problem with storage space on mine. What advice can you give to help me delete stuff, i.e,what redundant files can I get rid of? I have copilot as well. I'm asking now as I might not get a chance later, I'll have more info as to what is on the MDA later (I'm holding the baby at the moment :) thanx Brian
