Guest sporkguy Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 (edited) Gigabyte, the Chinese PC and parts manufacturer, are set to release another Pocket PC Phone with the g-Smart i. It is said that this phone resembles the Nokia 6270 - sans the sliding mechanism and keypad. Running Windows Mobile 5, the g-Smart i has a whole mass of features the Nokia does not: - 2.1-megapixel camera, - MiniSD card slot, - 2.4-inch TFT touch screen display, - FM tuner, support for a host of audio/video files (MP3/MPEG-4/3GPP/WMV) And some nice optional bits such as GPS navigation system and a TV tuner! No word on whether this phone will ever see European shores, but it looks like a tasty little number! View Source Edited May 20, 2006 by Pondrew
Guest sporkguy Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 Someone's being picky with the format of my newspost <_>
Guest bennish Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 sans keypad? Why, oh WHY gigabyte! it would be so cool! ;)
Guest TigerNet Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 ...think it's a sliding keypad... Cheers Nick
Guest sporkguy Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 ...think it's a sliding keypad... Cheers Nick Not the case unfortunately. If you view the source you can see more photos of it - and there is no sign of a keypad, due to the fact it is a touchscreen.
Guest mike-oh Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 sans keypad? Why, oh WHY gigabyte! it would be so cool! ;) Give the techy wizkids a year or so and they'll have cracked it! Tv tuner looks way sweet. But why not integrate that and the GPS.... ...oh and i'd like the moon on a stick please too :P
Guest dearsina Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 With a sliding keyboard (and perhaps wifi) it would have become the perfect phone. Shame.

If you view the source you can see more photos of it - and there is no sign of a keypad, due to the fact it is a touchscreen. So why, in your first post, do you refer to it as a smartphone?... Gigabyte, the Chinese PC and parts manufacturer, decided to expand into the smartphone market with the g-Smart i. They haven't "decided to expand into the smartphone market with the g-Smart i" either - it's simply a new model not a new market for them. Guest bennish Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 the wizard has had amazing popularity due to its qwerty slide out, and yet other companies don't even try a numeric one? What a waste.
Guest sporkguy Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 So why, in your first post, do you refer to it as a smartphone?... *I* didnt - my news source did ;)
Guest fluffcat1 Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 *I* didnt - my news source did ;) It ain't in parenthesis or quotes, and it's written under your username, so you did..... If you're just going to post 'news' by cutting and pasting other sites' articles at least check them first. Worse than msmoblies..... Richard
Guest fluffcat1 Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 Now now, let's not get bitchy. Check your facts rather than just cuttng and pasting 'news' from other sites, or make it very clear it's a quote and any mistakes are their typos, and I'll have nothing to bitch about.... Richard

Richard You're the only one getting your panties in a twist about this ;)
Guest fluffcat1 Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 You're the only one getting your panties in a twist about this ;) No, just pointing out you're a cut'n'paste 'news' poster who doesn't read the articles he posts under his own name or credit them properly with text in quotes.... Richard
Guest dearsina Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 ...aaaaanyway, given that most of us have addresses ending in -shire or -castle and not -hai -jing, it doesn't really matter, because the phone will never be released on this godforsaken island anyway. /not mad at England, mad because just found out the SDA doesn't have WiFi either...
