SP5 UK Busy Tone

I am running the latest software but when I call a phone line that is busy, instead of getting an engaged tone, I get something that resembles a darlek!

I thought this bug was supposed to have been fixed?

Any other UK user got the same problem?

I have the same problem, and yes, the bug was supposed to be fixed, but appearently, it's not.

I also used the phone in Sweden, with a swedish SIM, connected to a swedish network (duh!) and the problem was there too. It's like the busy tone is going at 400% speed.

How very odd. I have the latest ROM on mine, and I don't get this at all - I just get the normal busy tone o_O

You're not having much luck with this phone are you Pagemakers lol.. maybe its time for a hard reset or ROM re-flash eh fella ;)

Just hard reset my phone and re-uploaded the latest rom.......The busy tone now works correctly.

Well - despite my posting above.

The hard reset did NOT cure the problem. The dearlek busy tone is back!

What a total waste of time ;)

Well, this fixes the registry so it points at the UK WAV file in the Windows directory, so problem solved.

Damn i'm good, I scare myself sometimes ;)

Pagemakers, what is the latest i-mate ROM ?

I downloaded "i-mate_SP5_WWE_2.5.331.2.zip" is it latest ?

And I wondering why the ROMs which are compressed to the zip files have the numbers 2.5.331....

and the uncompressed ROMs in .exe format on i-mate ftp have the numbers 1.5.331.... ?

Is there any explanation for this ?

Yesterday I reflashed my Qtek with this iMate WWE ROM 2.5.331.2.

The first impressions are negative. :)

Despite of the fact that generally it's faster and gave me 13 Mb storage memory out of 18MB,

it's working very buggy on my device.

First of all it was very hard to make the TomTom working with this firmware (There was no problem with the original Qtek ROM). TomTom was freezing on the first screen after the several shutting down of the phone and reinstallation of the TomTom software and maps, it starts to work. I hope it would not crush in the middle of nowhere on the highway.

The most "fantastic" thing happens today morning: I could not start any program on it.

Even the original programs like File manager, Settings, or even START did not work.

The message was something like :" Can not access MSSTART because the program is not signed, have no certificates, blah-blah-blah". Very interesting. Switching phone off and again on resolved the problem so far.

So, I'm "anxious" to see what else this ROM will bring. :)

FYI, after the reflashing the following manipulations were done:

1- application unlocking

installation of :

2-TomTom

3- ClearVue

4- Fizz traveller

5- xBar3

What a shame :-( I had a little higher expectations from imate firmware.

So, I'm really looking forward to getting the new Qtek ROM with version 2.0.10.0 which was released on Scandinavian Qtek website in the end of April..... But people who has access to the qtek.nu are not really in a hurry to help and share it. ;)

I have to admit I'm not so impressed with the imate ROM on my SP5 or Universal either.

I thought imate were a dynamic company bringing out updates and fixes regularly. They do neither. Given the choice, if other identical devices were on the market at the time of purchase I would not (and will not in the future) choose imate.

Well, in this case we do not have so many alternatives if we would like to have HTC device in the future.

Qtek has NO service, and now iMate starts to act more or less the same way.

But at least with iMate you have central registration and you have the possibility to get the service and whatever updates. In case with Qtek, the situation is dramatic: even having the original Qtek device purchased from the official dealer, we do not have any service and any possibility to be registered at myqtek site. This I find absolutely outrages.

Its sooo strange, i don't have any of these issues with my phone.

I really wonder what it is? Do we use our phones that differently? Or maybe its the SD cards we're using, maybe it looses communication with it or something. I can't see how any of these problems could be related to anything other than software. I've installed exactly the same apps (and alot more) and never had this issue, not even once.

EDIT: i end up rebooting my phone every few days for various reasons - not software or performance related. I'm going to make a concious effort to leave it on for as long as possible and see what happens.
