Using SPV C500 as a modem

Hi,

I got theOrange SPV C500 (unlocked) from the Grey Market In bombay. I loved the phone and I have set up the GPRS connection ( I use Airtel) so that I could use my Pocket IE to surf the web.... But I am unable to connect and dial my Laptop to get connected to the network I'd followed the following procedures to do so...

[color=#3333FF]Under Windows XP, go to the Control Panel from the Start button. Find "Phone and modem options" and look for the HTC USB Modem; select that. Now, press "Properties" and choose Advanced.

A box comes up labelled "Initialisation String" and into that, type exactly this:

AT+cgdcont=1,"IP","airtelgprs.com","",0,0

That's the modem configured. But to make GPRS work, you have to make a new connection item on the menu. Call it "GPRS".

It will require a new phone number. You can leave most other choices empty, but it will need a phone number so type in:

*99***1#

Pls Help I need to travel a lot for my Job and need to connect tointernet while on the move... Pls help
