Guest cna Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Never used email on my phone before and was wondering if anyone can help me with the settings. I've a BT Openworld account and managed to set up my C500 so I can recieve messages to my phone from my BT account, but the emails I write from my phone don't send. Anyone know why? I've got the outgoing server as smtp.orange.net and I've ticked the box which says "outgoing server requires authentication" Thanks

Check your outlook settings on you PC. BT mail servers MAY also disallow sending from non-bt ip address ranges but I am not 100% on this, I know freeserve doo this.

I changed outgoing sever to mail.btopenworld.com, but it's still receiving and not sending. Maybe you're right and it's becuase it's not being sent from a BT ip.
Guest mr_end Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 (edited) I changed outgoing sever to mail.btopenworld.com, but it's still receiving and not sending. Maybe you're right and it's becuase it's not being sent from a BT ip. I have just looked into this problem and I am pretty sure that BT have now merged with yahoo. Try changing the sending server to smtp.mail.yahoo.com and see if it accepts the mail then. Quick Note: Make sure your username is your full ****@btopenworld.com address and ensure outgoing authentication is ticked. Edited May 19, 2006 by mr_end
