Guest hobsons choice Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 hi there i've finally found out you can get radio on your ppc, if this is old news, sorry for reposting (i couldn't find anything when searching) i've got this running on my mda compact 2, it works over the internet but im on t-mobiles unlimited data so no worries ;-> itis only supported in the uk and ireland check it out at http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/pda/
Guest Tech Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 unlimited data is based on fair usage policy - 2GB per customer per month
Guest peekie Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 You can also use resco radio as well , a nice application that has most of the internet radios included plus the option to add you own , its not free but is well worth it ;)
Guest Confucious Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 Unlimited data with T specifically excludes streaming... at least with the
Guest hobsons choice Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 I usually use it on the bus, so not for hours on end, i doubt if they will pick it up.
Guest Confucious Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Do you use it with GPRS or 3G? if it's 3G they probably won't care but if it's GPRS then they might do. From what I gather it's not the amount of data but the fact that streaming blocks the channels and so no one else can use the bandwidth while you're doing it. Hopefully they won't notice and I'm sure if they do they would warn you rather than just cancelling your contract!
Guest hobsons choice Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 i think its on 3g, when i connect a little g icon appears. if i find out its on gprs i will of course stop :-> i found all the info on this post, its long but full of great stuff. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=238415&st=220

Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 If only there was a way to get live BBC Radio 1 streaming, i'd be well happy... no Windows Media Stream tho ;) P
Guest Confucious Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Radio 1, Paul? If you'd said radio 4 i might have agreed with you.... ;)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Haha, just trying the Real Audio stream with RealPlayer PPC... Might work? P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Ouch, looks like RealPlayer killed my connectivity (JAMin), install with caution! P
Guest looeee Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Ouch, looks like RealPlayer killed my connectivity (JAMin), install with caution! P Interesting ... especially as realplayer works just fine on the whole smartphone range, a platform its not even designed to work on. Been listening to BBC Radio over wifi on my smartphone for ages now without any issues oh dear looeee
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Still investigating, something's killed it, maybe it wasn't WMP. Either way, found a BBC R1 Windows Media stream! ;) http://agencyrepublic.net/clients/bbc/mc_m...bcradio1_bb.asx Works a treat! P
