How to turn off backlight ?

I have a Dopod 585. The screen is actually very bright even without backlight.

I want to turn off the backlight. The options given to me is Never, 5 secs, 10 secs.... 60 secs.

There is no option to turn it off altogether.

I've looked at Tornado Low Light. This works for WM5 but I have a 2003 machine. Nevertheless, I've tried installing it. But it says that it cannot be installed on the phone memory or my Storage Card.

So, I end up with no solution. Anyone can advise me ? Thanks.
