Guest davejerome Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Hi People, I have a C550 which orange will be replacing for another tomorrow under warranty. I wish to back up as much of the phone as possible to transfer over. I have done the standard activesync and jeyo mobile extender for text messages, but i can't think of anything else. Can any of you? Am I forgetting something important? or am I just paronoid? Also my phone is Sim Unlocked (which I paid for), and I have heard/read somewhere that there is software that can do it for free on the internet. Does anybody know where I can get it from? I looked on the forum but everything seemed to be about application unlocking. Thanks
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 When you say "somewhere on the internet" did you mean the pinned topic at the top of this section ? http://www.modaco.com/Decert-and-Unlock-Guide-t236864.html ;) The only other things you can / need to backup from the phone itself would be the My Documents and Application Data folders, which can be copied via AS.
Guest nomis Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 i dont know about finding the software on the internet but if it waqs unlocked through the retailer then i would imagine if you tell them this and they check there records that it is correct then they might be able to re-unlock the new phone as well for free because youve allready paid for it once and had to send it back due to a fault
Guest pd.ryder Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 The best and most complete backup software I'm aware of is Sprite Backup. This will backup ALL data including system data, registry etc (prob retain 'unlocked' tweek too). There is a trial version which will allow you to backup your current 550 to your storage card and restore that data into the new one. Be aware though, if you are having it replaced due to software issues, this problem will likely be transfered into your new one. There is a pinned topic in the Smartphone Help section on this site which will lead-you-by-the-hand through a registry edit to both SIM- and Application-unlock your smartie. A quick search should find it for you ;)
