Okay then, spot the idiot. I managed to drop my SPV C600 into my cats water bowl and even though I got it out immediately it appears to be behaving oddly.

So far I have Restored the firmware to factory settings (AKU2) and I have taken the battery, SIM, SDRAM out and left it in my airing cupboard overnight to dry thoroughly.

The problem is that now as soon as you put the battery in it turns itself on and starts up the phone. It detects the network and shows signal and battery strength. It will even receive a call.

However, As soon as you press any button (Except the power button which now does nothing) it reboots the phone.

I have been around all of my local phone shops today to ask if any of them will strip it/clean it but none of them are really interested (Would you like a new phone with some insurance???)

I was wondering if there is anyone around the Daventry/Northampton area who has fixed water damaged phones before would be kind enough to take a look at it for me.

Otherwise it is goiing to be left up to me and a couple of friends to poke around inside it to look watermarks etc and as I am the sort of person who drops his phone in a cats bowl of water then I dont think this is the best plan.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Harroguk

Sounds like you have a short in the power circuit - somewhere in the power swtiching circuit probably - hence the behaviour.

I dropped a phone in a bucket of water a few years back and after thoroughly drying it it wasn't right, so I opened it and actually washed it with distilled water and then left it to dry and it was fine. Apparently distilled water can be used to clean the circuit boards etc as it doesn't leave any mineral residues that can cause shorts on the circuitboards.

Otherwise, opening it up and removing any salty residues witha small brush may help.

Use a solvent such as IPA if you clean it yourself. You may need more than a small brush to remove the corrosion - maplin do a fibreglass pencil for about
