Access point: orangeinternet

Yeah could be they haven't enabled it on your account. Do you see a little G in a white box in the middle of the status bar at the top of your screen? This means GPRS is available.

If so when you connect do you also get a smaller G in a white box above your signal indicator? This means you are connected to GPRS.

...Baz even having those two symbols you mentioned appear along the status bar doesn't mean you'll connect to GPRS. Basically when i got my SPV i had to ring the Orange 'Data and Fax' guys (phone number 156) a few times until they realised they hadn't actually activated it on my account

- talk about being "duh!" or what?

If you're still having problems i'd give 'Data and Fax' a ring on 156 and ask them to send you an update. The update should automatically adjust your settings to allow you to access GPRS. I'm betting Orange haven't activated you yet ;)

Earthcoder, diagnostics mate, start at the beginning. Can other Orange users move data over GPRS in your location. If yes then what does your SIM in their phone do? If no probs with your SIM in their phone then your subscription is fine and it comes down to phone settings probably.

If you cannot try your SIM in another handset, then settings need to be re-checked. ignore all CSD/DUN settings for the sake of this as only GPRS is issue(one at a time if not the case).

In I.E menu set connections to The Internet and do not tick the Automatically detect settings box. In settings , data connections set The Internet to Orange GPRS(the others don't matter for this). In menu, edit connections, GPRS Connections, select Orange GPRS. In here select The Internet with an APN(access point name) to orangeinternet, unsername and password should be blank(required for CSD only). Your primary and secondary DNS servers should be set to 0.0.0.0, if they are left blank it should autocomplete with 0's, if it has not it suggests that either handset is a bit quirky or that a GPRS bearer may not be available(if others can check with Orange). Manually complete these if required.

If settings are all correct and your not out in the sticks(perhaps no GPRS coverage) contact Orange.
