Guest gibster Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Hi guys! My contract has just finished and i'm not going to renew it because i'm leaving the country in about 2 months. I am going to have to go the PAYG route until that time but want to know who i should go for to get the best rate gprs connection? I don't use the phone that much for talking really, just text, but the gprs is vital! Any ideas much appreciated.
Guest fraser Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 I asked the exact same question (for the same reasons!) about a month or so ago, topic is here, never got much back. Depending on how long you will be wherever you are going, a local PAYG sim card might be your best bet. I got the impression that roaming gprs is rather expensive, see this post about pay-monthly charges. PAYG will be worse I reckon. What I'm going to do is PAYG my Orange number and just occasionally put it in while away to pick up messages. Everyone can email me instead, or I'll give the local number to close friends/family only. Will also prevent roaming charges when mates phone you forgetting you are some place warm!

Thanks for that, but i think maybe i wasn't clear enough. I am going to Japan where mobiles and useage is dirt cheap!!! What i need is a PAYG sim to keep me going while in the UK, then i can just bin the card! I got an SPV M500 and a WIFI card so i can do all my email and blog updates with that in Japan, but what i'm after is cheap GPRS on PAYG while i'm still in the UK. Thanks anyway mate. By the way, where are you going? Relocating?

Guest w411y Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Your welcome. Well you can send a text to request the offer but that can sometimes take too long to go through. So just ring 450 (which is free) and then go through the options to get Orange World extras and I chose unlimited access for
