Hi. I wanted to send mms from my SPV 1000 so i went to orange to get the upgrade RUU_v1.1_OrangeUK_v3.66.1.230_ship.exe and followed the instructions and connected via bluetooth to activesync while on the charger. Then it asked on the phone if to run it so i said yes and then it went to the screen im stuck at now, because activesync crashed while it was connected. Would a hard reset solve this, Ive tried but cant find the way to do it from there. The screen just says Serial at the top and v1.06 at the bottom. I run an o2 simcard because it was unlocked when I got it, and have seen unlocking tools about so it dont matter if its back to factory state, if it can be of course, but would be even better if i could save my contacts. Thanks.

You should never try and run an upgrade on a wireless connection, you should always use a cable! I'm sure it does say this in the instructions....

Anyhow, its done now....best advice I can offer is to connect it up with the cable, and try to run the upgrade again....

Ok thanks. Ill try and get hold of a cable, i got mine second hand and there was no cradle with it and i only bought a charger and a bluetooth dongle, but ill get a cheap cable and hook it up and try again and see what happens.

Ill have a cable comming for this in the next couple of days, what I need to know is if running the upgrade again dont sort my phone out what do I need to do to reinstall the stuff onto it? I have a copy of windows mobile 5 but its not from my phone its one i downloaded, so how would I go about installing everything from scratch. Also i have the xda 2 upgrade, could i load that on my phone instead so my phone is automatically on O2, as thats the network i use. I want to fix it myself if possible cos a shop that repairs them wants me to pay

There isn't a Windows Mobile 5 official rom available for the HTC Himilaya and the forum rules don't allow discussion of unofficial roms.

Anyway, my advice would be to connect the M1000 to your desktop pc using the sync cable, don't worry that Activesync won't recognise the device and so won't connect, run the official rom update that you've downloaded. It should procede to install without issue.

If you have trouble during an update the first thing to do is to reboot the pc and press the reset button on the M1000 (it will remain on the bootloader screen tho). Then ensure your firewall is off and rerun the update (to be sure of avoiding device id problems it's always best to stick with the rom intended for your device, ie an SPV M1000 rom).

Let us know if you need any more help... :)
