Guest fuel925 Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Is there an app that will let me lock and unlock my keys using hardware buttons as opposed to tapping on the today plugin? I have been using a program called Screen Lock, which is ideal but i've been having some issues where I noticed my phone has been accidentally calling people even when the keypad is supposed to be locked. I think it has something to do with the voice tag button, but the problem probably occurs because the program is written for PPC 2002 and 2003. Does anyone know a similar app for WM5?
Guest mandt Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Hi I have been looking for exactly the same thing myself, as the today screen looks terrible with 'device unlocked' written across it! definitely one of the things I miss from the Smartphone...
Guest fuel925 Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Hi I have been looking for exactly the same thing myself, as the today screen looks terrible with 'device unlocked' written across it! definitely one of the things I miss from the Smartphone... The main reason I want a solution to this is that I hate having to keep getting the stylus out just to lock or unlock the device!
Guest Laser_iCE Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Why not just use the keyboard/pad... I'll have a look soon to see whether or not it's possible to do with SPB Pocket Plus :)
Guest mandt Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 (edited) Thanks but not really what I'm after. I don't have pocket plus and don't want to use it just for this, I was thinking ( and I think fuel925 was too ) of a way to assign a button to use the built in lock. I wonder if it would be possible with smatskey? anyone? Fuel if you put the device lock plugin at the bottom of the screen you can hit it quite easily with your thumb instead of grabbing the stylus out, or you can scroll down with the D-pad and click to lock, indeed since I read another thead about the stylus getting looser and looser in its holder I try to use anything else handy to tap the screen with rather than take the stylus out! Guest Shuflie Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 No probs, there's some useful stuff on VJ's site. Check out VJVolubilis if you use MS voice command and a BT headset. No more hunting through to switch on bluetooth while you're driving, just press the voice command button and say "start bluetooth" ( or "start bluetoggle" or whatever you've renamed the "VJVolubilis bluetoggle" shortcut to), when you don't need the headset connected anymore jsut repeat the same command and it switches off to save battery power.
Guest drblow Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJDeviceLock I tried that but it would only work if the device lock plugin was active on the screen anyway. Seemed a bit pointless really.

Seemed a bit pointless really. yeah tried it today and thought the same, it nearly does what I want, I relly want to get rid of the lock plugin from the today screen.

Guest mandt Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Sort of using a work around at the moment until I can find something better, Start>Settings>Buttons Lock tab Select 'Lock all buttons except power button' Then instead of locking the phone with the today screen plugin click the power button Not quite what I was looking for but it's worked ok so far... ...and no 'device locked' plugin

I'm not sure why when the buttons are supposed to be locked...
Guest fraser Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 I have been using this method which I like, except that sometimes I look at my phone to find that apps have been opened without my knowledge! I'm not sure why when the buttons are supposed to be locked... It'll wake up on it's own due to a scheduled wakeup event or an incomming call. If you want to use the in-built button lock, it's best to set a password so that if it does come on, no harm is done.
Guest nevawlkalone Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 This may sound a tad daft but, is there no way you can drag like a .dll or .exe file from a smartphone that will allow you to press and hold the call drop key to lock the keys and screen? It a bit farfetched but it just an idea beacause i have draged apps that came as standard to a ppc and they worked fine so was just wondering... M
Guest vijay555 Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Guys, I effectively discontinued VJDeviceLock because exactly the same night I wrote it, another guy wrote the same thing, but he was so enthusiastic I followed his development instead. Matt's version will allow you to lock the phone using the device lock plugin, without having it loaded. Have a look on XDA devs forums. It's called "yet another device lock" or something. V
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 I can't believe screenGuard from PocketMax.net didn't get a mention here
Guest mandt Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 (edited) Found it! time and time again the best apps are from the guys making them for fun, and releasing them for free. It's got to be one of the best things about owning a Windows mobile thanks vijay, for the benefit of others you can find the app HERE Edited June 18, 2006 by mandt
