is it possible to delete necessary operating files?

hello all...is it possible with our wonderful windows program to delete necessary operating or connection files? I had done some file cleaning and shortly after my phone stopped connecting to cingular. Short of sending my phone back to motorola....can I download the original ROM from anywhere. I reformatted the phone to factory but that still did not help. Any suggestions? thanks!

You did a hard reset (hold blue button while turning on) and that didnt fix it?
