Guest bytefire Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Hi Does anyone know what oranges refund policy is on Pay As You Go phones. I purchased a SPV C550 from The Orange Shop on May 5th this year. I went to use the phone today and I get the message Invalid or Missing SIM card. I have tried removing and replacing the SIM but I still get the same message. So I'm going to have to take it back to The Orange Shop but as it has gone wrong in less than 28 days I would prefer to get a refund rather than a replacement. Does anyone know if there policy allows this. Thanks Craig
Guest Empress Mittens Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 I'm pretty sure under their T&Cs you can only get a refund up to 14 days after you bought the phone...good luck at the Orange Shop, let us know how you get on! :)
Guest bytefire Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Thanks, its a shame if it is 14 days. Does anyone know where I can get hold of a copy of the Terms and Conditions because the receipt doesn't mention them and the ones on the website only seem to refer to contracts.
Guest sporkguy Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Empress is correct, I used to work in Orange Retail myself and 14 days was the official cutoff for returns, and 28 days is the statutory date for exchanges. However, if you ask a phone trainer to look in the small print of 'source' (they will know what you mean) it says there that under certain circumstances (which it doesnt state, but you can bet your bottom dollar it means "if the customer kicks up a fuss") then it can be authorised to get your money back. However, I'd just go for the exchange option for a brand new handset - which they will be more than happy to help you out with :)
Guest bytefire Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Thanks for your help, I went into the orange shop today and it turned out to be a problem with the SIM Card rather than the phone. Although now I have to wait for them to send me a sim dispite them having loads in the shop. It sort of defeats the object of having the shop really. Thanks Again Craig

Thanks Again Craig Not strictly true - if you think about it, the only sims available in the shop are already bundled with handsets, and dedicated PAYG Sim Packs - we have no sims available instore to hand out to customers. Plus, its called the 'Orange Shop' not the 'Orange Tech Support Clinic' :)
