Ok I searched and searched several forums for a tweak to increase the length of time the light on the keypad stays lit currently 5 seconds I want it to be 30 seconds

anyways every where I go i get the same response its a hard ware issue

Bollards its a hardware issue

heres the reg entry to get the keypad light set to the tiem you want it.

HKLM/Software/HTC/Keypad

KB_LIGHT_TIMEOUT

To make keyboard backlight stay on longer increase from 5000 to desired length i set to 30000 for about 30 seconds

easy way to figure it choose amount of time in seconds input that amount the add 000 to the end asi t works in 100 seconds i think

You can set, 5,10,15, 30 seconds up to unlimited time in the settings menu, power management, backlight timeout on ac/battery. Thanks anyway!

The tweak mentined above is for the keypad and not the screen backlight that the power management setting can adjust.

The tweak mentined above is for the keypad not the backlight.

at least some people pay attention to what happens when the changes aremade to their registry

I was going to add it to the main reg tweaks but I thought everyone would overlook it there as there was a lot of confussion over back light and keypad light

looks like the same confussion is setting in here.

serves him right if he ends up with a paper weight

Thanks for this Conan. Perhaps this should be mentioned in the SP5 tweaks thread? :)

I find em I post em its up to you guys where you want to move em.

I think if it goes in the sp5 tweaks that whole thread realy needs a clean up personally I think all reg edits should be put in one thread and only entries postin new edits to be submitted not questions regarding siad edit

but thats just me

Glad people are finding it useful

conan out.

IMO We need a Wiki, somewhere to post all those tweaks and FAQs that are floating around, and just leave the forums for discussions.

All upto Paul tho eh!

no workie on a Cingular 8125...the 'keypad' key value was not present under HTC so I added it with the 30000 value...no change in keyboard illumination timeout...

Does anyone with the 8125 have a workaround?

use your reg editer with the find option tick al three boxes

Kyes

Values

Data

when it finds anything with the time out line in it read what else is written with it to work out what it does

if your unsure post your findings here then we take a look and advise.

if it has a key pad light and it timesout there will be a reg edit unless it is tied to the screen

in which case check to see if key pad and screen tim eout together set a new amount in the setting menu and see if it still matches the screen as this was the case on an old siemens of mine

Wrong. It can have a separate keypad timeout, but still hardcoded and no registry value.

Various values are tweakable by registry only if code developer decides to implement it so. But he can easely just to put a timeout constant in driver/dll code, and to change it you will have to hack the driver/dll.

yes your quite right i just meant that if there was a reg entry for its control there will be an dit to get it to do what you want with in the bounds of the program of course

what phone are you using , becuase if it ain't there is should be in another location on the phone just do a search in the registry for it as advised above.

or look at one or two programs that will do it for you , smarttweaker from gadgetapps.net or maniacs autokeylock.

Hi, thanks for replying.

I am using Cingular 2125.

I gave it a quick search .. nothing yet, I'll keep looking. I might end up buying that smarttweaker if I dont find anything.

Although I dont understand, isn't this a thread/forum for cingular 2125?

Thanks agian.

I am not familiar with the cingulaur model version but if it is the same as a qteck 83*0 or the Imate sp5/m or O2 xda IQ then it should have the same registry setting.

before buying smarttweaker try the trial first ensure it does what you want from it

(there is an update due soon too) registered user have access to other downloadable edits too

also maniacs autokeylock is a free applet and an absolute must for candy bar phones.

You have to have your software updated to AKU2.

in the original system it was not possible to change the keypad timeout, but in AKU2 it was changed, i-mate has a little cab in their website "CDL Power Managment" that can change the timeout value. Also Amptweaks V2 i think also can change it. this is OLD news (march 2006).
