Guest beaster Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Can anyone help please? I have a tmobile sda ii which has a socket for attaching an external antenna. The manual gives no information other than its possible to attach an external antenna. I have tried TMobile but they can't give me any information at all (even tho they distribute the phone as a badged item). They put me in touch with HTC who is supposed to be the manufacturer. HTC have advised me that they don't make the phone but only repair it and can't give me any information! I seem to be going around in circles. Basically I have a weak signal in my house and want to attach an external antenna or booster. That part's no problem but finding an adaptor that will connect is a major issue. From looking on the internet the phone seems to be identical to the imatesp5. Has anyone else had this problem and found an adaptor please (for either phone)? Failing that, anyone know who the manufacturer might be? Anyone got any ideas how to resolve this please? Thanks (in desperation)
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 HTC do make the phone under contract to Tmobile. HTC generally do not sell to the public apart from repairs. I have never seen an antenna adaptor for the HTC phones.
Guest nevawlkalone Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 (edited) Arnt they the same sort of ariels you get in "In-Car Kits"? I vaguely remember someone asking about this a while back as his flat building had lead on the walls...he managed to get an ariel...sorry but i cant remember what the thread name was! Surely there must be some out there though - they all have that antenna socket on the back (well all the ones I've come across do) - there must be something to go into it...

I looked at the post and the links but the adaptor they sell is for an XDA. Unfortunately I have tried this adaptor and it wouldn't fit....talking to an ariel supplier they said that mobile phone manufacturers often put sockets on the back of their phones but never get round to making adaptors! Unless someone has any other ideas I think I'll email HTC and ask if they can give me any kind of spec for the plug that would be needed. Then maybe I can get an adaptor made up. All seems a bit daft that the sockets there and the manual explicitly says you can attach an antenna but you can't get hold of one! Thanks for your help anyway.

Ah right...fair enough I think also they for the car kits! Not sure...
