Guest Hairsy Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Hi, I've decided to get an i-mate SP5 or SP5M but can't decide which. From what I can see, they are functionally the same but, due to the extra media buttons, the SP5M looks to have a slightly smaller keypad. I operate my phone wearing gloves sometimes so this could be enough to swing it for me. I will be using the phone as an MP3 player though occasionally. How useful are the media keys ? If I've got a few albums on the phone then I'd want to go and select what album I want to listen to and, to do this, would I need to navigate to WMP anyway ? In which case, is there a significant benefit in the SP5M ? Are there any other differences ? I'd appreciate any advice. I've done lots of searching but haven't been able to find a model comparison. Many thanks Dave
Guest Tech Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 I have an SP5m, I actually wanted an SP5 but didnt care which "model" as long as it was an SP5 range. the media keys can be useful (thats why they are there) when you are listening to music and want to navigate! :) There are no differences in between the 2 apart from the color of the phone and the media keys :)
Guest sporkguy Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Its all down to how a phone looks with me, and the moment I saw the SP5 (back when it was rumoured Orange were going to release it as the C600, but sadly redesigned it) I fell in love with it. It looks so professional, so artistic, refined... it looks the mutts nuts :) I'm not bothered much about the lack of media keys, as playing MP3s just drains the battery quicker - plus, thats what my iPod is for! :)

I'm inclined to agree with sporkguy but was wondering - what do the media buttons actually do? Is it just play/pause/stop? Do they allow a skip? In either direction? Cheers Dave
Guest loki_f Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 Definitely the SP5 to me, the SP5M just doesn't have the same quality look.
Guest peekie Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 The sp5 i feel is a nicer phone as the sp5m looks cheap :)

Guest w411y Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 SP5 I would go for. Simply because of the looks and the keypad. Although I do use the music buttons on my C550. But I guess I couldeasily live without them... just use the joystick instead.
