Guest EvilDaz Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Hi Previously I was using Electric Pockets Ringo, which meant you could assign any ringtone as well as SMS tone to any contact, use groups etc, which was pretty handy, apart from you had to start Ringo after a soft reset / power down otherwise defaults were used again. No big problem, I just added a shortcut to the "startup" folder in windows directory although this opened up the Ringo main screen on startup rather than start it in the background, but I found this to be an ok solution. I then came accross PhotoContacts pro, which is great, you can assign a photo and ringtone to each contact, so caller ID is the picture on screen, tap the photos to call the contact, it had an option to start on startup in the background etc, a very handy little app. However, there is no functionality within this software for SMS tones. So I decided to run Ringo and PhotoContacts Pro (PCP) together. This did not work, no matter what you selt the default tone to withing PCP, it would ring silent. I can only imagine that they conflict. I decided to stick with PCP and ditch Ringo. The problem is now if I want to change the SMS tone, I need to convert the sound to a WAV, transfer it to the windows folder, go into the sound and notification settings, change the SMS tone, when I come out of the menu, It resets the default ringtone back to the windows default one, so I have to go into PCP again and change the default ringtone back to what I want. what a pain in the arse!!! So does anyone know of something similar to PhotoContacts Pro that does SMS tones too? or an app that is specifically for SMS tones that can use MP3 etc, and can run side by side with PCP? Thanks Daz
