Tesco Mobile & the Orange SPV C550

I've had a SPV C550 since September 2005 on Orange 'pay as you go'.

The reception where I live has is poor compared to previous phones I've had on O2.

Therefore I had the SPV unlocked and fitted a tescomobile SIM card and had my phone number transferred.

Whilst I can send and receive phonecalls & text messages I cannot send or receive MMS messages or access the internet.

I've made numerous phone calls to the tesco hepline. Whilst they've been helpful they have not yet solved the problem and are now telling me it might be the code on the phone ROM chip preventing any other phone service (other than orange) from accessing the MMS & internet utilities. They continue to investigate.

The only settings they have given me which I have set up as 'Tesco' on the 'GPRS connections' are :-

Connects to : WAP network

Access point: prepay.tesco-mobile.com

user name: tescowap

password: password

primary DNS: 0.0.0.0

secondry DNS; 0.0.0.0

IP address 193.113.200.195

Does anyone out there know of the settings that will work.

I've seen the recent item on the 'SPV c550 & O2 ----- andrewsexton 24/4/06 onwards', I'm not sure where the difference might lie between those settings and tesco's.

I am told by tesco helpline that the MMS and internet facilities are enbled on my phone.

can anyone HELP !!!!!

I have a Tesco Mobile sim in an Orange C500 phone.

The settings are correct but I found that I had to delete all the Orange settings first so there were no connections, proxies etc. Also if I remember correctly, you had to specify the internet port as 8080.

Finally, Tesco only allow WAP over GPRS. I very rarely get it to connect to any proper website.

After using a mixture of Tesco & O2 settings 've now got one stage further in that

i) I can send and recieve MMS messages, but I can't see the photos, it only lists a summary - picture size etc..

ii) On the net, before it used to tell me to check that i have network coverage, now it shows that it is connecting, but it never finds the page i am looking for.
