Dropped/Damaged C550 HELP!

Hi,

Could anyone tell me if there is any hope for my C550. I dropped it onto the road. It seemed to be working fine but the side Camera button would not operate. Two days later the battery ran out. Upon charging I got a screen with Red Green and Blue coloured bands.

In the Redband it says:

"Hurricane IPL 1.00.10"

In the Green band it says:

"Hurricane SPL 1.00.12"

In the Blue band it says:

"Hurricane"

At the bottom of the screen there is a bit of white background and it says "USB" in it.

Switching on and off just brings me back to the same screen.

Is there any hope or should I start looking for another phone?

It sounds like the button has jammed in. With a flat battery / phone off and powering up with this button pressed in it forces the phone into 'bootloader' mode. If you free this button, and take the battery out, it should then charge / work fine.

The button doesn't seem stuck. Must be stuck inside.

Would I be able to get to the button if I follow your guide to removing the cover of the c550?

Yes, and without voiding your warranty ;-)

Does the button have any tactile response - does it pop back like normal or does it feel 'dulled'? If jammed inside you would not get a pop back after pressing. If it does pop back it is likely it may have lifted from / shorted on the board. Have a look, if you're careful you could then send it back for warranty repair if you cannot sort it. Don't mention the impact that caused it.

Hi guys similar problem , my bro just 5 mins ago knocked the keyboard off the top of my monitor and onto my spv c550.

its broken the screen , but only the external glass thank god , any ideas if its covered by my 12 month guarentee with Orange, its only a pay as you go , but thought there was a possibility?

if not where is a good cheap place to get a new front fascia for it from pls , cheers.
