Hey all, I've searched all I could but couldn't find a resolution for my problem. Here's the laydown... I have a SMT 5600 (C500, Typhoon) that has worked perfectly for quite some time now. I upgraded to Async 4.1 upon it's final release and it worked fine up untill today. I plugged in my phone to update some calendar entries and I get a dialog box that states the following..

asyncerror.gif

I tried uninstalling ASync and reinstalling to no avail. I also read to disable my firewall...but I'm not even running a SW firewall on this system. I tried installing the 4.2 beta with no luck as well. I can't even browse the phone via windows explorer nor can I use Active View for remote display. It's as if the phone wasn't even connected to my computer!

Edit: I just relized the last day it did sync (May 29th) was the day that I ran HTC Unlock, is there anyway short of doing a hardrest to return my phone back to pre-HTC Unlock form?

You had this working earlier, so I am not sure if I have the right answer for you. But Activesync 4.1 documentation does say that is for WM5. The download page on Microsoft web site says:

Faster file transfer speed and photo sync via Outlook are only available for Windows Mobile 5.0 powered devices. For customers using Windows Mobile 2003 or 2002 powered devices, please continue using ActiveSync 3.8.

Check this: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/dow...tivesync41.mspx

Yeah... I had 4.1 working for months. But I went ahead and tried uninstalling it and installing 3.8, no luck. It doesn't give the error message, but it won't connect with Activesync period.

Hi! I have the same problem. Active Sync 4.1 worked just perfect until I ran HTC Unlock on my phone(i-mate sp3) I think this is what's causing it to give that error, i also don`t know what to do and i hope someone knows the answer, because i can`t even download the pictures and videos from my phone to the computer, and that really is bad:( One last thing: after i get that error, my phone connects but in visitor mode, and it`s useless!

PROBLEM SOLVED! I was trying to solve the problem by running HTC Unlock again(i know that's stupid, but i tried) and it didn't work so I thought that in order to work, the value in the registry should be as it was before the HTC unlock.

Here is what to do step by step:

1. Get PHM Tools registry editor(i don`t really know where you can find it so i`m attaching it)

2. After that copy it into your phone(since Active Sync isn't working try InfraRed, or bluetooth, or something...)

3. Run it on your phone

4. Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> Security >> Policies >> Policies

5. Press the softkey under "Values". You should see a list of 8 digit numbers. The first one sholud be a lot different from the others(this is the one that HTC Unlock modified)

6. Select the first one and hit "Menu" >> "Modify Binary Data"

7. Go up, to "Value name: ", and modify it to 00001001.

That should work. It worked for me, and I hope it works for you too.

Good Luck!

P.S. I don't know if the phone remains app unlocked, but my guess is no.
