Guest Laser_iCE Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 So last night, I got a phone call from a mate of mine, and there's nothing coming out of the ear piece! Speaker phone works, and I know for a fact that it can't be the headphone jack thing playing up, as I can still play music and the menus still click/pop out of the speakers... So I'm thinking of calling my phone provider, and hopefully they'll send out a replacement... I've mentioned that my black sides are flaking, as well as the stylus thing deteriorating... Not to mention the little black strip thing on my battery cover falling off... I'm under two years warranty, but coming from your experiences, what do you guys think? When you've sent phones to get repaired, how was the condition of your phone? Did they send out a replacement or did they fix it? Thanks; Laser_iCE
Guest Laser_iCE Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 -bump- Surely SOMEONE has sent in their phone for repair to the telco ? It's really quite urgent as I use my phone for everything, and so I need to know what to expect.
Guest marcwic Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 The reason the black bit on the back comes off is because when you charge the battery gets warm and heats up the glue! My battery cover was nearly stuck on this morning
Guest Laser_iCE Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Well I just called the Telstra support line then, and the guy just said to take it down to a Telstra shop, to get it shipped off for a replacement under warranty, which is exactly what I want! Now, I just finished reading another thread where a member said he was sending his phone back for repair because of the light flickering, and he also said that he was going to put the shipped ROM back on it... Would this be neccesary? Is flashing the latest ROM from clubimate (in my case) voiding warranty in any way at all? Or was it just his personal choice? I just don't want them to try and turn it all back around on me, that is all. Hopefully I'll get two brand new stylii (what is the plural? stylus' ? Sounds silly.) with it too... Ugh, HTC. Can't you just manufacture one phone that doesn't totally badword up :) Time for a new thread, I think.
Guest Rob.P Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Damn it! Same thing has just happened to my phone today, exactly the same, no chance of me fixing it tonight then, saves me a wasted evening.
Guest funkmaster Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 i had the same problem with my old c500 - which i got a replacement for, and recently i sent my qtek 9100 back for a few problems - took about 3 weeks and they paid for the shipping to germany.. not too bad all in all.. h.
Guest Laser_iCE Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Part 2; I took it to the Telstra Shop at Strathpine here in Brisbane, and they were really really friendly about it... I explained to the lady what had happened and how I had also lost both of the stylus' that come with the phone due to the faulty holder, and so she took the phone off me and gave me a... NOKIA 8310 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Nah, the lady that helped me out was really cute, so I don't mind... But now I wait. Because of my warranty, they're going to check it out and post it all for free, so I just hope that I do get a replacement! I got a brand new simcard out of it all too, because my old one was a piece of crap and was started to grow mould (literally, I've had it for God knows how long...). Hopefully I'll have it back by the end of next week with no charges placed upon me. I just hope they don't try and turn it around back on me by saying that I was too rough with it or something, purely because of the condition of the outer case... I travel a fair bit to and from Tafe 4 days a week, and I go out a fair bit too, so it goes through a lot of in-out pocket, but still... Time for me to start using the pouch that come with it I guess. Eek, fingers crossed!

Guest Rob.P Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 I've just had an email confirming mine is being shipped off to Germany today, hopefully the 3 weeks I read earlier in the thread is true, the woman on the phone said it could take anything up to 4 months! Here's hoping it's 3 weeks, I need to use my Satnav in Sept for 2 weeks solid that and the C500 is a poor replacement as an MP3 player.
Guest Laser_iCE Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Well, it's been just over a week now, and I'm still waiting to hear anything... -sigh- I hate this shitty Nokia!! I NEED A STARTMENU!! I NEED MY CALENDER!! I NEED MY CONTACTS :) I've officially lost it.
Guest Laser_iCE Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 UPDATE: It's 10:50pm, and I got my phone back this afternoon... I got the phonecall from the Telstra shop and they said to get there as fast as possible... So I got there, and they couldn't find it! ... Turns out it was in the last box that they checked. So they got it out, and told me that i-mate replaced the speaker and the back cover... Well I haven't had a chance to check the speaker, but I can tell you now that the only thing they changed is the U shape bottom half around the battery cover -- which kind of pissed me off. They saw the condition of the rest of the outer casing, they could have at least replaced the whole lot! Another thing, is that I didn't have any more stylus' sent out, even after telling them that I had lost the two that I originally owned (one I found stuck down the side of the couch) due to THEIR manufacturing fault. All in all, I'm not too upset... A little disappointed, as I was expecting to get a new phone, but I guess I'm just going to have to take better care of it this time around, and wait for a damn silicone case for the phone to be made. Oh, and all of this was free too :) So I guess that's a bonus! Laser_iCE
Guest Laser_iCE Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Jebus. It's happened again! I made a phone call this morning at about 6:30am (no, someone called ME and woke me up!), and it went fine... Another phonecall later in the day at about 11am or so, and it started to drop out... It's raining pretty heavily here at the moment so I thought perhaps the storm was interfering. I got a call from my boss about an hour ago and I couldn't hear him... Luckily I put it onto speaker phone before he just gave up. Point of the story, is that what the hell is wrong with the hardware? Haven't done anything to damage it, it just decided to start dropping out on me and then BAM, it's totally gone now. Oh well, I'm going to take it back and then enquire about how much a new outer casing will cost me, 'cuz once again, this one is slowly dying of scratches and stuff still (I'm a student, not an executive), so hopefully that won't cost me an arm and a leg. Point of the story, is that I'm going to try and squeeze a JASJAM out of them, at minimal extra cost...
