animated GIF

Is it possible for a selected plugin to have a bgimage instead of a bgcolor so that an animated GIF can be used? I am trying to achieve something similar to "DrLP MacOSX" with a text bubble that slides into the screen from left to right when an item is selected.

Edit: I tried <format state="selected" bgimage="\Application Data\Home\DrLPMacOSX-mru.jpg"01.jpg"/> and it worked! Now it's time to play with layouts!
