Hello, guys! Please help! :)

I can't install programs on the miniSD storage card of my HTC Faraday. The checkbox in ActiveSync that says "Install program into the default installation folder" is disabled, the "space available on device" does not show the memory on storage card.

When I try to install cab files directly from device, it doesn't ask me for the destination path.

Why is it happening? Is there any setting in registry or so? Or is it because I use 2Gb miniSD and ActiveSync does not understand it? Or does my phone need to be unlocked?

Also, there are programs for PPC that allow you to install CAB files to any location using the device itself, for example, "CabInstaller"

Are there any utilities like that for the SmartPhone?

Thank you very much for your help!

Some applications do not give you a choice of location, but always install to the device storage. What applications are you installing? If it is an application that allows installation on storage card, but your unit is not allowing it, I would check if you are able to access the storage card properly -- both on the phone and through ActiveSync.

Yes, you can install CABs in smartphone -- you just copy it to your phone (storage card) using Active Sync and then you can run it from the phone to install.

Thank you very much, Pavan! :)

A stupid me! :) The trick is that I also have iPAQ, and for iPAQ the ActiveSync enables the "Install program into the default folder" checkbox right when the "Add/remove programs" window opens.

When syncing with SmartPhone the same version of ActiveSync always disables this checkbox and the phone itself asks for the destination folder.

The programs I was trying to install indeed did not give an option to choose destination, but when I installed a chess game, the phone gave me choice.

So everything is sorted out! ;)

Thank you very much again! :D
