Guest VulakAerr Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Has anyone else had a look into this new Live Anywhere thing Microsoft are promoting? There's a video on Eurogamer TV showing off the link-up to the Xbox gamertag on an MDA Vario. Has anyone else heard much about this or would they be interested in such a thing? (Cross-platform gaming between WM5, Java, Brew, 360 and PC?) + friends list, messages, downloads, gamer points and achievements and stuff on their mobile? I, for one, can't wait.
Guest muff Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 cross platform gaming has been mentioned for XBox360 and PC, but NOT for mobiles atm - it's just the gamercard stuff that is shared to the mobile phones, and maybe some simple customisation tools like changing a cars setup and returning that back to the server for you to use on the home platforms later I think the PC / XBox360 cross platform gaming won't really start until DirectX10 and Vista I think it's certainly an interesting idea tho
Guest VulakAerr Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 I think there's a possibility of cross-platform stuff on the Live Arcade games. Or at least some of them. Something like Uno or Gauntlet would be easy to translate to mobile. But I suspect you're right. I don't think it's been mentioned yet. Just the fact that if you buy some game on the 360, then you can have the Mobile version too. And yes, it'll be Vista-only.
Guest fraser Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 I think the whole "one email" thing offers most promise. Most people struggle to get workable email and end up with three or more different addresses. Live should pull it together by the sounds of it. Almost like a Hotmail+ if you ask me. I've already seen a few phone tie-ins with games, I can't remember on which platforms though. You could go in and see your characters statistics and so on. I don't think you could change anything in that one though, it was more of a novelty.
